A Slow but Steady Process

Dear Diary – January 2014 – Growing Up Magazine

I had many ideas on how to present the journal entries that make up my final project. I thought about not only writing the journal entries but creating a video with audio of myself  reading each journal entry. I thought this form of presentation would be more intriguing. Unfortunately, I think my idea is too big for me to create in time. For one, I am not tech savvy and the last time I created a video presentation for class I had a very difficult time sending the video to my professor and even worse, I could not upload the video from my phone onto my laptop or Ipad! Not only do I struggle with technology, I did not think that writing the journal entries would be as hard as it actually is.

I have spent much of my time trying to find the dates of different events that I would be responding to. For example, one of my journal entries is about one of my professors saying we have no reason to worry, and that Kean University would not close because of the virus. I believe this is an important experience to touch on because it demonstrates I’m sorry to say but how naive we can be as Americans, assuming that we won’t be affected. Anyway, I want to stay as true to the facts as I can so I am trying to find the dates when these events occurred if that makes sense. I am disappointed that my vision won’t become a reality, but I do think my story will highlight what I think it means to be American.
