My Final Project

As I did my freewriting I found that I had many more ideas than I had believed I would. Wow, that was a lot of I’s. Anyway, I was surprised by the ideas I had for the project. When I first read over the assignment I had ideas for both options and through my freewriting I was able to expand on those ideas and chose the direction in which I will be going for the final project. I have chosen to go with option two.

I will share my experiences during the pandemic and my point of view of how we are handling this crisis as a country. I will also look at how Americans are being treated according to our rights. I plan to do this through daily journal entries. I have been inspired by Elizabeth Acevedo’s novel The Poet X, which is composed of many journal entries in the form of poems. Poetry is not something that I normally find relaxing, so I will write my journal entries as prose.

I find myself in a unique position during this pandemic, I am still babysitting and my wife has yet to receive her unemployment money, and she filed over four weeks ago. I put myself and family at risk by leaving the house and babysitting everyday, but it is currently the only way that we as an American Family can support ourselves. I am advised by the American government to stay indoors, yet, we are not receiving the financial support we need, nor is there anyone who can help us find out why she is not receiving her unemployment money. I believe that based on my experiences, I can share a clear view of how America is handling underpressure, and how good citizens are suffering for reasons that are out of our control, but is in the government’s control.
